How your Morning Routine might be derailing your goals.
If I woke up at 6am, drank coffee, worked out at 9am then ate my first meal of the day at 10:30am, I am not being healthy or supporting my goal of losing weight.
I know it sounds counterproductive, but if you never listen to anything else I say, listen to this. You. Need. To. Eat.
In the scenario above, so many things are working against my goal of losing weight and increasing my energy.
Coffee before water? Before food? The caffeine further depletes the hydration that I was experiencing after 7+ hours of sleep. It also depresses my appetite and so I feel like I am not hungry, but my body is actually craving nutrition. Then I go and workout with zero energy from food. I am now starving my body. It will use anything to keep going, that includes breaking down muscle tissue for energy and recovery. My stress levels on the body are high now and so that means my hormones are disrupted.
Many people, especially women, do better physically and hormonally when they fuel before intense workouts instead of relying on caffeine and training completely empty.
In conclusion, do a quick check in. Are you fueling properly before your workouts? If not, how can you improve?
