Recovery is needed more than we think (or at least we admit)
I know that recovery can be a struggle for many people to fit into their day. We are already doing so much with work, kids, animals, responsibilities to so many things, sometimes it’s hard to get to the gym, but I am hoping that by adding Recovery classes to our program, you are able to commit to this at least 2x a month and then maybe 3x and then possibly weekly!
Stretch and Recovery is a class we are adding to the schedule starting in Sept on Wednesdays at 6:15pm.
If you are unsure about adding Recovery to your routine, I’ve listed out ways in which it is beneficial and hopefully encourage you to sign up for a class.
What Stretching Does for Recovery & Your Body
1. Improves Flexibility
Increases the length of muscles over time.
Helps improve range of motion in your joints.
Makes everyday movements and exercise feel easier.
2. Reduces Muscle Tightness
Helps relieve tension that builds up from workouts, sitting or stress.
Can decrease the feeling of stiffness after exercise.
3. Increases Blood Flow
Brings oxygen and nutrients to muscles.
Helps remove waste products produced during exercise.
Supports the body's natural recovery process.
4. Promotes Recovery
Helps muscles return to their resting length after training.
Can reduce the sensation of soreness and improve how you feel the next day.
Encourages active recovery without placing additional stress on the body.
5. Improves Posture
Loosens muscles that become tight from prolonged sitting or repetitive movements.
Allows the body to maintain better alignment.
May reduce strain on the neck, shoulders, and lower back.
6. Enhances Mobility
Mobility is your ability to move through a full range of motion with control.
Flexible muscles make it easier to maintain healthy joint movement.
Better mobility can improve squat depth, reaching overhead, and everyday activities.
7. May Reduce Injury Risk
While stretching alone doesn't prevent injuries, maintaining good flexibility and mobility can help your body move more efficiently.
Balanced muscles place less stress on joints during movement.
8. Improves Performance
Better movement quality often leads to improved exercise technique.
Can help you squat deeper, rotate more freely, and move with greater efficiency.
9. Helps You Relax
Slow stretching activates the parasympathetic ("rest and digest") nervous system.
Can lower stress levels, reduce muscle tension, and improve sleep quality.
10. Encourages Mind-Body Awareness
Helps you recognize areas of tightness or imbalance.
Improves body control and movement patterns during workouts.
